Where He Came From

Milo arrived at the ESSA Shelter after being found tucked inside a craft room, sitting politely next to a sewing machine like he was waiting for instructions. The staff joked that he “checked himself in,” because he trotted right up to the intake desk with his tiny harness already on.

He wasn’t scared.
He wasn’t shy.
He just looked up at everyone like,
“Hi. I’m ready to work now.”
